Job Posting: General Manager - Full Time
SUMMARY:
This General Manager (GM) position has senior management and P&L responsibility for all Sipapu Resort activities. The GM provides hands-on leadership to the organization with the assistance of the department heads and staff in the development and execution of long and short range strategies and plans. The GM directs and coordinates effective and efficient operations of the resort within corporate guidelines to maximize sustainable profitability and customer satisfaction. The GM will drive innovation and bring new ideas which deliver superb customer experiences, improved ways to work together in a team environment and effectively implement profitable growth strategies. The GM reports directly to the Director of Operations on Sipapu’s executive management team and has a full line of benefits.
Located 20 miles southeast of Taos, Sipapu Ski and Summer Resort is New Mexico's fastest growing ski area. Founded over 60 years ago, Sipapu is known for its commitment to delivering affordable, family-friendly year-round adventures, and the resort is well positioned for major growth.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for the overall business strategy for the Resort including implementing and monitoring strategic goals and objectives.
- Daily management of the Resort’s operations including, but not exclusive to: mountain operations, food and beverage operations, lodging operations, retail operations, ski school and all personnel in keeping with all corporate standards.
- Creates and administers the financial budget. Proactively controls costs and positively impacts the bottom line.
- Manage all department financial objectives and work with individual department heads to achieve organization objectives.
- Responsible for maintaining the Resort’s assets and quality standards as well as the development and implementation of the Resort’s human resources policies and procedures and guest satisfaction guidelines.
- Develop and maintain a high level of employee trust and loyalty within all levels of the organization. The GM treats the employees with dignity and respect and creates an environment where the entire team does the same.
- Ensures a quality product and positive customer service experience. The GM responds positively and quickly to customer concerns and initiates corrective action through good communication and/or improved processes/procedures to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Maintains an environment where all employees are trained and empowered to deliver total customer satisfaction. Defines and implements processes whereby each employee’s ability to maintain high levels of customer satisfaction is effectively evaluated and managed.
- Participates in marketing strategy development and ensures the success of all marketing programs.
- Leads employee engagement and development efforts, ensuring that employees are valued, safe and feel empowered to serve their customers. The GM provides an environment that improves the skill, knowledge and morale of all employees.
- Responsible for hiring department heads and managers. Directs all other hiring and termination practices.
- Evaluates each direct report on a bi-annual basis while overseeing department managers’ bi-annual evaluation of employees. The GM holds the department managers accountable for their department’s performance.
- Conducts regular manager meetings, attends industry events, participates in special projects/initiatives, and performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS and SKILLS:
Required:
- BA/BS Degree in business or ski area related field
- 5 or more years business management experience
- Previous experience demonstrating exceptional leadership and management abilities including recruiting, rewarding and retaining employees and implementing strategic directives
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and foster employee growth
- Strong oral and written communications skills including the ability to communicate effectively, concisely and professionally with senior management, clients and other key stakeholders
- Excellent customer service orientation
- Problem-solving and conflict management
- Ability to delegate work
Desired:
- 5 or more years in a ski resort management position
- Organized with excellent time and project management skills
- Strategic – including strategic forecasting, planning, implementation and business case development

Job Posting: Restaurant Manager – Full-Time
Responsibilities: The Restaurant Manager is responsible for execution of all menu categories and specific recipes for each menu item including timing, quality, temperature, portion, and presentation. This position is also responsible for weekly schedules and daily food orders. You will maintain standards and specifications related to food preparation and food handling on a daily basis; this includes maintaining safety and sanitation standards as well as compliance with all environmental and health board requirements. This position will assist with providing overall culinary supervision and is responsible for motivating, coaching and encouraging Sipapu Family Members, while promoting a Family-Friendly, Family Fun work environment. In this role, you also will be responsible for maintaining proper food cost and payroll margins to ensure restaurant profitability while providing an exceptional customer experience.
Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years experience in a culinary leadership role
- Proven excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must be at least 21 years of age to be considered for this role
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to lead and develop a team
- Strong customer service skills
- Possess excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
- Ability to make decisions and manage multiple tasks
Required Education:
- High school degree or equivalent
- Previous POS management experience preferred
- Previous staff management experience preferred
SCHEDULE AVAILABILITY
Sipapu Ski and Summer Resort operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Must be flexible and able to work a variety of shifts including days, nights, weekends, holidays and special events.
